~ A Scribbling inspired by a true experience in April 2021 ~

A field of green wheat and a sea of storm clouds crashing close.

It was the calm before the storm. A light breeze tickled the trees, and the sun was shining, but the dark clouds rolling in signaled a storm.

All was peaceful and quiet, save for a frog’s croaking, when suddenly, the wind arose. It seemed to be in a bad temper, too, for it snatched at the grass and roared angrily at the trees, swaying and thrashing about wildly.

Lightning flickered as a firefly does on a warm summer night and lit up the clouds in a weird orange and red light.

The storm had come.

A pair of Canadian geese splashed in a protected area among the reeds as raindrops began to fall, fast and furious. Lightning flashed and thunder growled, the trees moaning in the wind.

Then all was still. The storm moved on to another place. Birds ventured forth from their nests, and the geese swam about the pond. Raindrops twinkled upon the grass as the sun peeked through and smiled at the wet world before her.

Hope you enjoyed this Scribbling!
